The Mark
A name, a wordmark, and the words that go with them. For a firm that has outgrown its display picture, or a product that has not been named yet.
Bangalore, India — MMXIX
Brand, video, and launch work. Any industry, any size of firm.
What we donotlike is a branding and creative studio in Bangalore. We work in every industry and specialise in none of them, because the craft does not change — only the vocabulary does.
We do not hold the camera. We take what you already have — rushes, walkthroughs, drone plates, renders, stills — and cut it into something with patience in it. Long takes left long, and the product kept out of frame until the film has earned it.
Coming soonDecks, packaging, signage, stationery, and the things a customer actually holds. Paper stock and letterpress are decisions with the same weight as the product itself.
Coming soonEnd to end, from the first mark to the last handshake. One studio, one narrative, no handoffs between five vendors who have never met each other.
Coming soonEach opens with none of our chrome on it — no nav, no footer, nothing of ours but a small way back. That is the point: the work is theirs, not a page about us.
Identity only
A name, a wordmark, and the words that go with them. For a firm that has outgrown its display picture, or a product that has not been named yet.
Video only
You already have the footage. We find the film in it — one long edit, or a season of cutdowns. Nothing new is shot, and usually nothing needs to be.
Everything
First mark to last handshake. Name, identity, site, edit, collateral, and the campaign that carries them — held by one studio throughout.
There are no prices on this page on purpose. The work is sized to the launch, and we would rather quote it than guess at it.
A studio that has done four hundred launches in one sector brings you the average of the last four hundred — which is exactly what your competitors already look like. We take the unfamiliar brief on purpose.
Every industry we work inWe come to where the work actually happens — the floor, the kitchen, the warehouse, the repository — and stay longer than is polite. The story is almost always already there.
Then we argue about it. A borrowed story fails on first contact, so we would rather lose two weeks here than sell you something that dies on the shelf.
Name, type, paper, site, edit — all of it set against that one story. This is the fast part, because the decision that mattered was already made.
Through the launch and past it, until the last handshake. The studio that found the story is the one that sees it land.
Narrative. Everything you make already has a story in it — in how it started, what it refuses to do, the hour the work actually happens. Our first job is to find the one that is true, because a borrowed story fails on first contact.
Aspiration. Nobody buys features. They buy the version of themselves that owns the thing. The work is to make that person visible, and to be precise about who they are.
Restraint. Show less, say less, and invite rather than advertise. What is withheld does more work than what is shown — in every industry we have ever worked in.
notlike is an independent studio. There is no account layer, no pitch theatre, and no third party you have never met writing your copy at midnight. The people who do the work are the people you will meet.
We started it out of a complaint: good work was being sold with borrowed words, by five vendors who had never met each other.
We reply to every enquiry ourselves, whatever the industry and whatever the size. The next step is a long conversation and a look at the real thing — not a deck.
